Georgia's Trusted Local Source for Waterfall Explorations Since 2018

Angel Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Rabun County
Lakemont, GA

GPS Location:

34.77119, -83.47830

Waterfall Height:

90 feet

Located in the popular vacation area of Lake Rabun, Angel Falls is the second waterfall on Joe Creek, located 0.3 mile upstream from Panther Falls. This waterfall is the namesake of the Angel Falls Trail, an easy to moderate hike from either Lake Rabun Road or Lake Rabun Campground. Although Angel Falls is the largest of the two waterfalls along the trail, I find it to be less beautiful than Panther Falls. Angel Falls is a long, multi-tier stairstepping waterfall about 90 feet high. However, much of the drop is hidden by a dense rhododendron thicket, which affords only partial views of the falls. A boardwalk crosses Joe Creek at the base of Angel Falls, but you will attain a good view of only the lower 30 feet or so.
