Asa Cove Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Rabun County
Dillard, GA

GPS Location:

Waterfall Height:

100 feet

Asa Cove is home to a notable tributary of Messer Creek near Dillard. This cove contains a 100-foot waterfall with two distinct, steeply-sliding sections. It is a rather significant waterfall, though the photos I've seen suggest there isn't much viewing room. Surprisingly, Asa Cove Falls is marked on USGS topographic maps. This waterfall lies close to the private property boundary. There is no trail leading to Asa Cove Falls and no easy way to get here over public land, as private property blocks the downstream end of Messer Creek. The cross-country route from the Grassy Ridge area would be a long, rugged, and challenging bushwhack.

To learn about more waterfalls in the Clayton area, see chapter 9 in Mark Ozboyd's "Waterfalls of Georgia" guidebook.
