Carroll County
Whitesburg, GA
GPS Location:

Waterfall Height:
15 feet
Located southeast of Carrollton, Banning Mill Shoals is an impressive series of rapids and cascades found within a geographically unusual boulder-strewn gorge along Snake Creek. The primary set of rapids drops about 15 feet and lies adjacent to the historic red brick textile mill building. These rapids can be seen at the end of the Creek View Trail at Historic Banning Mills Adventure Resort.
Because Banning Mills isn't officially a park, most people gain access to the trails by staying at the lodge or campground on the property. Another way to explore the trails is by registering as a guest for one of the resort's "adventure treks," which include aerial zip line tours and Eco-Spider ATV rides. The Banning Mills website states that people who wish to merely walk the trails can do so after paying a $7 maintenance fee at the lodge.
