Brasstown Creek drains a deep, rugged gorge on the northwest slopes of Brasstown Bald, home to the 70-foot Brasstown Creek Falls in its upper reaches. A notable eastern tributary drops steeply into this gorge through an area marked on topographic maps as Big Bald Cove. This tributary is home to a series of waterfalls tumbling about 100 feet in quick succession. The collective Big Bald Cove Falls consists of three separate drops, with heights of 50 feet, 30 feet, and 35 feet from bottom to top. In wet weather, these drops are scenic and can make for a good picture. A large rock shelter lies near the uppermost tier. Greg Ford referred to these falls as Treasure Cliff Falls when documenting them in Facebook posts.
Reaching Big Bald Cove Falls requires a long, challenging bushwhack across treacherous cross-country terrain, regardless of the route you take. The only way to reach this waterfall and all others in the upper Brasstown Creek watershed via public land is to bushwhack down from the Wagon Train Trail high atop Brasstown Bald. Astute map readers will observe that the easier access to this waterfall could have otherwise been from downstream along Brasstown Creek. Unfortunately, this access point is entirely blocked by private property and houses at the end of Upper Plott Town Road. There is zero national forest access from this road.
