Bridal Veil Falls

Tallulah Gorge State Park

Rabun County
Tallulah Falls, GA

GPS Location:

Waterfall Height:

20 feet

Bridal Veil Falls is the final in a series of five waterfalls in North Georgia's Tallulah Gorge, famously known as one of the Seven Wonders of Georgia. This 20-foot waterfall is also known as the Sliding Rock, for it forms a natural water slide, taking people for a smooth ride right into a spacious pool. On a hot summer weekend, the rocks will be teeming with dozens of sightseers enjoying the refreshing water and sunshine. Although Bridal Veil Falls might be the smallest waterfall in Tallulah Gorge, for most people it's the main destination along the Gorge Floor Trail, being the only place where swimming is allowed in Tallulah Gorge.

Bridal Veil Falls can only be seen with permission from a Gorge Floor Access Permit. Two trails lead to the falls, the Gorge Floor Trail and Sliding Rock Trail. Both are technical, challenging rock scramble trails located within the permit-only zone of the park.

Gorge Floor Access Permits are limited to 100 per day and are issued on a first-come, first-served basis at the interpretive center, where permit seekers must first undergo a 15-minute safety briefing. No permits are issued after 3 p.m., or 4 p.m. during daylight savings time. On good summer weekends, permits often run out instantly once the interpretive center opens at 8 a.m. I strongly encourage getting in line at least 30 minutes beforehand on such days. In addition, Gorge Floor Access permits are never issued on days with high rain probability or if rocks remain wet from rain during the preceding night. Finally, permits are never issued on water release dates, listed on the park website.
