One of the most beautiful waterfalls in the Suches area, Canada Creek Falls is the first of four significant waterfalls found along Canada Creek downstream from Woody Lake. The 60-foot waterfall drops in two picturesque tiers with a large, deep pool at its base. The upper tier of Canada Creek Falls, about 30 feet high, is so scenic that it can be treated as its own waterfall. The waterfall is also known as Gooch Mill Falls. Unfortunately, Canada Creek Falls lies right on the boundary between private property and Chattahoochee National Forest. Public access is questionable.
Without a doubt, public access to Canada Creek Falls from the downstream direction does not exist. The bottom of the falls appears to be on private property. A clearing at the end of a dirt lane can be seen adjacent to the base of the falls. This dirt lane is a private drive starting among houses, and it has absolutely no vehicle access to the general public.
People often hike to Canada Creek Falls from the upstream direction via a series of unmarked paths through the National Forest, starting at the end of Canada Creek Road (FR 435). The private property boundary appears to be located somewhere around the middle of the falls, or near the top. It's legal for people to hike to the top of the falls from the upstream direction, and folks frequently scramble down to the spectacular midpoint view without repercussions. As of 2024, the precise private property boundary is not marked or posted.
