Coyote Falls

Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area

Habersham County
Cornelia, GA

GPS Location:

34.48877, -83.47075

Waterfall Height:

20 feet

A picturesque, stairstepping waterfall about 20 feet high, Coyote Falls lies just off the Ladyslipper Trail in the Lake Russell WMA. The Ladyslipper Trail is a 4.4-mile hiking loop from Red Root Road (FR 92). The trail makes a stream crossing at the top of Coyote Falls. Most people don't realize that such a pretty (if small) waterfall lies downstream and never take the time to scramble down there. There is a faint side path leading to the base after circumnavigating the west side of the falls. Downstream, this unnamed creek eventually joins the Middle Fork Broad River below Wells Shoals Falls, after leaving the Lake Russell WMA.
