The smaller brother to nearby Panther Creek Falls, David's Falls is a spectacular 30-foot waterfall found in a deep gorge along Davidson Creek. This creek is a major tributary to Panther Creek, and the waterfall lies about one mile south of Panther Creek Falls as the crow flies. A massive pool adorns the base of David's Falls. At 100 feet long and 70 feet across at its widest point, it could very well be classified as a pond and makes for an incredible swimming hole. David's Falls is the main waterfall on Davidson Creek, though other lively cascades are found downstream. The waterfall is named for David Carswell, an Anna Ruby Falls Visitor Center co-manager who grew up near Davidson Creek and visited the falls often.

David's Falls lies well below an unofficial trail that loosely parallels Davidson Creek from Pumping Station Lake to Panther Creek Road. An extremely steep scramble path descends from this trail to the bottom of David's Falls. The hiking distance from Camp Yonah Road is about 1.7 miles.

My friend Butch and I spent a truly memorable new moon night at David's Falls in late August 2023. Facing northeast, this is one of the very few waterfalls in Georgia where the Milky Way galaxy lines up

in the open night sky above. We waited over four hours to photograph the Milky Way aligned in a perfect vertical streak directly above the falls. To illuminate the surrounding rocks and trees, we set up two fixed light sources: one at the falls and another along the pool. If you thought the trek to the falls was arduous, just imagine how hiking back out at two in the morning would feel!
