Factory Shoals

Factory Shoals Park

Newton County
Covington, GA

GPS Location:

33.44355, -83.82557

Waterfall Height:

10 feet

About a dozen miles south of Covington, the Alcovy River loses 40 feet in elevation as it tumbles over a long, impressive series of rapids known as Factory Shoals. The final 10-foot drop is vertical enough to be considered a waterfall, and it goes by its own name: White Shoals. Large boulders are scattered throughout the river gorge here, and a small beach lies at the bottom.

Factory Shoals and White Shoals are located in the Factory Shoals Park, off Newton Factory Bridge Road. A short 0.1-mile path leads to the bottom of the biggest drop. Other riverside paths follow the extent of the shoals between here and the road bridge.
