Fairy Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Union County
Hiawassee, GA

GPS Location:

34.77721, -83.84377

Waterfall Height:

40 feet

Lying on a tributary of Smell Creek, Fairy Falls is a little-known 40-foot waterfall located near Forest Road 337. The waterfall lies just above the road at 1.5 miles from Wolfstake Gap. A brief bushwhack is needed to get a good view of the waterfall's multiple tiers. The unofficial waterfall name of Fairy Falls originated from a local resident, who said she feels like the waterfall is just the type of place where fairies and gnomes would live. Note: the forest road leading to the falls is in rough condition and no longer maintained by the Forest Service. Those without high clearance and 4WD will definitely want to walk it.
