Fall Branch Falls
Southern Nantahala Wilderness
Towns County
Tate City, GA
GPS Location:
34.98203, -83.56036
Waterfall Height:
100 feet
A steep western tributary of the Tallulah River just outside the community of Tate City, Fall Branch is home to a series of steep waterfalls tumbling over 100 feet down into the gorge. Fall Branch Falls is impressive but hard to attain a good view of, being enveloped by dense vegetation. The upper tier is the most scenic part of the waterfall. There is an unofficial trail from the Tallulah River that climbs above Fall Branch Falls enroute to Bly Gap and the Appalachian Trail. However, this path does not provide any direct access to the waterfall, which requires a steep and rugged bushwhack to reach.
Note that this Fall Branch should not be confused with a better-known Fall Branch Falls near Blue Ridge.
