First Prong Falls is a 30-foot sliding waterfall located on First Prong, a large tributary in the upper Keener Creek valley. The waterfall lies a bit south of the more spectacular Second Prong Falls and can be reached via a 0.2-mile bushwhack from the old, decommissioned Keener Creek Trail. The trail begins along Patterson Gap Road (FR 32) at Hopper Branch. Although the trail is no longer officially maintained, it remains followable and fairly easy to find for those who are willing to climb over many fallen trees.
