Glassy Mountain Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Rabun County
Clayton, GA

GPS Location:

34.85675, -83.50246

Waterfall Height:

150 feet

Glassy Mountain Falls is a big free-falling waterfall located on the northern slopes of Glassy Mountain. Located on a small tributary of Timpson Creek, this waterfall is in excess of 150 feet high and among the tallest in the region. However, it is only an impressive sight during wet weather. A power substation clearing along Hwy 76 between Davis Gap Road and Charlie Mountain Road provides a nice, distant view of Glassy Mountain Falls high up on the mountainside. There is no trail leading directly to the falls, though it can be accessed by a challenging bushwhack through the forest. Intrepid explorers will pass a cascading lower falls, about 35 feet high, before reaching the main waterfall.
