Gold Dust Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Habersham County
Lakemont, GA

GPS Location:

34.72820, -83.52232

Waterfall Height:

50 feet

Gold Dust Falls is a beautiful 50-foot waterfall near Low Gap Road, cascading down a series of stairstepping ledges. The waterfall lies on a tributary of Nerve Branch. Although this stream is on the smaller side, the waterfall is very showy, especially in wetter periods.

Gold Dust Falls is accessed by a 0.7-mile hike along an unofficial trail from Low Gap Road. The trail follows FR 720, a decommissioned forest service road. Once the trail reaches the creek with Gold Dust Falls, a short scramble path leads upstream to the falls. A small, bonus cascading waterfall lies just below the trail crossing. Additionally, a long chute-like waterfall lies just above the brink of the main drop of Gold Dust Falls and might be of interest to hardcore waterfallers.
