Georgia's Trusted Local Source for Waterfall Explorations Since 2018

Haven Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Habersham County
Lakemont, GA

GPS Location:

34.72832, -83.45948

Waterfall Height:

50 feet

One of the most unique waterfalls in northeast Georgia, Haven Falls is a twin free-falling waterfall of about 50 feet. The main free-falling tier is 30 feet high, but a steep stairstepping cascade keeps dropping below it for another 20 feet. A spectacular dry grotto lies in the recessed cliff behind the falls. Haven Falls is also known as His 'n' Her Falls. Locals purport that people have been coming to this waterfall for generations to "shower in the wild," and the unique twin free-fall allowed a separate stall for both him and her!

Haven Falls is located in the headwaters of Panther Creek. Yes, this is the same Panther Creek that forms the spectacular and renowned Panther Creek Falls many miles downstream on the other side of Hwy 441. This particular waterfall experiences a small fraction of the visitation that Panther Creek Falls sees.

Haven Falls lies just a few minutes down the road from Minnehaha Falls and is one of the finest hidden gems in the area. It is accessed by a mostly easy unofficial 0.4-mile trail from Bear Gap Road. The final approach to the falls includes a brief scramble path section.
