Heddy Creek Falls

Cohutta Wildlife Management Area

Fannin County
Ellijay, GA

GPS Location:

34.85761, -84.55992

Waterfall Height:

40 feet

Denoted by a "Rapids" label on the USGS topographic map, Heddy Creek Falls is a steeply sliding 40-foot waterfall located off-trail along Heddy Creek. The creek is a major tributary to Mountaintown Creek, but accessing the falls from Mountaintown Creek Trail is not recommended due to thick rhododendron. A more manageable, but still difficult, bushwhack approach follows an old logging road from FR 64 for 1.5 miles before descending a steep ridge to the falls.
