Waterfall Height:
25 feet
True to its name, Hidden Cove Falls is a picturesque 25-foot waterfall hidden away in a secluded cove near a low-lying area area of the Lake Russell WMA known as Browns Bottom. A shallow, sandy beach adds to the appeal of this waterfall. Hidden Cove Falls lies on a large unnamed creek, flowing into the Middle Fork Broad River a quarter-mile away. This is the same stream containing the spectacular Tabor Falls about 3/4 mile farther upstream. Most people access Hidden Cove Falls from the Browns Bottom area lying downstream, for there is no trail between this waterfall and Tabor Falls.
Hidden Cove Falls is a fabulous choice for a beginner off-trail bushwhack hike. Although there is little to no established path for most of the route, the bushwhack is flat and fairly mild, especially in the winter when understory vegetation is nonexistent. The best access point is from the gate on Pumping Station Road (FR 89) at the Middle Fork Broad River ford.
