Horsetail Falls

Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area

Stephens County
Toccoa, GA

GPS Location:

34.49184, -83.43456

Waterfall Height:

25 feet

Dropping down a series of stairstepping ledges, Horsetail Falls is a 25-foot waterfall tumbling from an unnamed stream directly into the Middle Fork Broad River. It lies about 1.5 miles upstream from Wells Shoals Falls. Beautiful rolling shoals and expansive bedrock slabs are found along the river by the waterfall. Horsetail Falls can be reached by a series of unofficial trails from Red Root Road (FR 92) to the north, or from a wildlife opening near Post Oak Corner Road (FR 193) to the south. The name for the falls comes from an old map of unofficial trails in the Lake Russell WMA.
