Of the four nice waterfalls at Cochran Mill Park, Little Bear Creek Falls is the easiest one to reach and requires very little hiking. Located along Little Bear Creek, this 15-foot waterfall lies just 0.1 mile from the main parking area and trailhead along Cochran Mill Road. A gentle downhill walk along the wide gravel trail across the road leads to an elaborate bridge just below the falls. The plunge pool, as well as the creek downstream, are popular wading areas in the heat of summer. Picnic tables are found throughout the adjacent grassy meadow.
The base of Little Bear Creek Falls is home to well-preserved ruins of the historic Owen Cochran Mill. Photographers will enjoy framing pictures of the waterfall with the old stone walls. The remains of a millpond dam stand at the top of the falls, and an old iron flume pipe descends the hillside.
