Long Mountain Falls is a long series of wet-weather waterfalls found in the headwaters of Cane Creek, the same stream that forms Cane Creek Falls much farther downstream. Although the creek steeply drops more than 150 feet at Long Mountain Falls, it's hard to establish the existence of one single waterfall here, but rather a set of drops that gradually run into one another. Some parts are cluttered with debris while others have open viewing. The lowermost tier of the falls lies slightly separate from the others at the 2,080-foot elevation. This section has also been called Mountain Cove Falls by Greg Ford. Long Mountain Falls is located off-trail and can be reached by lengthy bushwhack routes from either Grassy Gap Road (FR 55) or Blue Ridge Road (FR 42).
