Long Shoals Falls

Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area

Stephens County
Toccoa, GA

GPS Location:

34.52422, -83.43094

Waterfall Height:

20 feet

Long Shoals Falls is the lower of two waterfalls along Dicks Creek, a major tributary of the Middle Fork Broad River in Lake Russell WMA. This particular Dicks Creek should not be confused with other Dicks Creeks home to better-known waterfalls in Dahlonega and Clayton.

A 20-foot sliding waterfall, Long Shoals Falls is scenic despite its smaller size. The base contains a small pool, doubling as a good swimming hole in the summer. This waterfall is located just off the Broad River Trail, which closely parallels Dicks Creek from Guard Camp Road (FR 87). Although the waterfall is witihn earshot of the trail, people often don't realize it's here. A brief scramble path descends down to the creek below the falls after an 0.8-mile hike along the trail.
