Lost House Branch Falls is a spectacular 100-foot waterfall located in an off-trail box canyon east of Hwy 17/75 near Helen. The waterfall lies on Lost House Branch, about 0.3 mile upstream from where the stream flows through a culvert beneath the highway. Although it's difficult to reach, this is one of the best bushwhack waterfalls in the region. After a good rain, you'll find a magnificent wall of water tumbling down and spreading out over the big, broad cliff at Lost House Branch Falls.

Note that initially, the north side of Lost House Branch is private land, so you will have to wade the creek or bushwhack through dense vegetation on the south side. A historic, abandoned stone house used to stand on the north side, possibly giving the stream its name. This structure is described in my Waterfalls of Georgia guidebook. However, as of April 2026, the property now has a newly-constructed home facing the stream. I highly encourage that you keep away from this private property and stay in Chattahoochee National Forest.
