Lower Chinquapin Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

White County
Helen, GA

GPS Location:

34.77655, -83.67763

Waterfall Height:

125 feet

Lower Chinquapin Falls is the tallest in a series of waterfalls along Chinquapin Branch, a steeply-dropping stream on the south side of Tray Mountain. The waterfall's height is about 125 feet, although its precise beginning and end are debated. The lower end of the falls is cluttered with debris, but the main vertical drop in the middle is very beautiful. To reach Lower Chinquapin Falls, you'll need to make a strenuous 1.3-mile bushwhack up the rather overgrown Chinquapin Branch valley from the gated Chimney Mountain Road (FR 79).
