Below the famous Panther Creek Falls, Panther Creek flows through a deep and seldom traversed gorge on its way to the Tugaloo River. Here lies the little-known Lower Panther Creek Falls, located about 0.75 mile downstream from Panther Creek Falls. This is a broad, powerful set of picturesque sliding cascades, about 20 feet high.

Lower Panther Creek Falls lies off-trail, though not far from the Yonah Dam side of the Panther Creek Trail. To get there, one would keep following the Panther Creek Trail downstream beyond the base of Panther Creek Falls. This segment of the Panther Creek Trail is extremely rugged with numerous rock scrambles and fallen trees. It does not see much maintenance. Eventually, the Panther Creek Trail turns away from the creek to climb up a steep ridge and bypass an especially rugged area of the gorge. To reach Lower Panther Creek Falls, you must leave the trail here and continue following the creek downstream for another 0.15 mile to the falls. The route is a combination of tough creekwalking and bushwhacking.
