Georgia's Trusted Local Source for Waterfall Explorations Since 2018

Lower Spoilcane Falls

Chattahoochee Wildlife Management Area

White County
Helen, GA

GPS Location:

34.78736, -83.74719

Waterfall Height:

25 feet

Located along Spoilcane Creek north of Helen, Lower Spoilcane Falls lies about 0.35 mile downstream from the taller Spoilcane Falls. This scenic stairstepping waterfall is 25 feet high and makes for a fabulous photo. Unfortunately, reaching it requires an extremely difficult bushwhack through heavy debris and treefall caused by strong winds from Hurricane Irma. Hardly resembling anything but a long-abandoned logging road, the old route of the Unicoi Turnpike parallels the creek near the falls. However, a fresh landslide occurred along the slope by Lower Spoilcane Falls, making access to the bottom even more difficult and unstable.
