Lower Talona Falls

Private Property

Gilmer County
Ellijay, GA

GPS Location:

34.61530, -84.50087

Waterfall Height:

15 feet

Lower Talona Falls is the first from a pair of waterfalls located in a short gorge along Talona Creek below Teague Lake. About 15 feet high, the lower falls is the smaller of the two. It would be picturesque if not for the large fallen trees laying atop. Both waterfalls are located on private land owned by a marble mining company. However, the 0.2-mile pathway from Talona Road to the falls evidently sees a lot of local foot traffic. The property was not posted with any signs as of December 2023. Thus, public access appears to be tolerated for now, but this page will be updated if the situation changes. Please remember to leave no trace and leave the waterfall better than you found it.
