Maple Spring Falls is a 35-foot waterfall along Maple Spring Branch, a steep eastern tributary dropping into the High Shoals Creek gorge. The waterfall drops over a jagged cliff, forming a scenic split flow when water levels are high. Accessing Maple Spring Falls entails a long, difficult bushwhack from Indian Grave Gap Road (FR 283) on the other side of the High Shoals Creek gorge. You will encounter lots of dense rhododendron near the bottom of the gorge. The best off-trail route follows the north side of Maple Spring Branch to the falls.
