Messer Creek Falls has the unique honor of being the only waterfall in this database being located right on top of the Georgia-North Carolina state line. It lies on the upper reaches of Messer Creek in the shadows of Ridgepole Mountain, a 5,000-foot peak just over the border in North Carolina. About 40 feet high, Messer Creek Falls tumbles over a long, majestic cliff line.
An old logging road with many downed trees climbs through the Messer Creek valley and provides some level of access to this waterfall. However, there is no way to access the start of the logging road from public land, as private property blocks the downstream end of Messer Creek. Instead, the only way to reach the waterfall via public land entails a long and brutal bushwhack from the vicinity of Grassy Ridge and Patterson Gap Road.
