Metcalf Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Rabun County
Clayton, GA

GPS Location:

34.95273, -83.22673

Waterfall Height:

35 feet

An especially picturesque 35-foot waterfall along Metcalf Creek, Metcalf Falls lies in a rugged gorge just below Tottery Pole Road (FR 86C). It's a classic case of a beautiful waterfall hidden by dense vegetation just out of sight from a Forest Service Road. The off-trail bushwhack to Metcalf Falls is just 0.1 mile. However, it is steep with many fallen trees and a rhododendron thicket just before the falls. I have not been to the falls since 2023 but was told that Hurricane Helene storm damage has made the bushwhack more difficult.
