Mill Shoals Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Rabun County
Clayton, GA

GPS Location:

34.79914, -83.33140

Waterfall Height:

25 feet

Mill Shoals Falls is the final of five beautiful waterfalls along Stekoa Creek. It lies in the lower Stekoa Creek gorge, about one mile from the Chattooga River, and just downstream from the larger Big Shoals Falls. Mill Shoals Falls is a picturesque 25-foot waterfall, making a broad ledge-type drop about 80 feet wide. A deep pool lies at the waterfall's base. Additional cascades and rapids are found farther downstream near the Chattooga confluence, but no major waterfalls.

Mill Shoals Falls is reached with an excellent 1.3-mile hike of moderate difficulty along unmarked, little-traveled trails from Wolf Creek Church Road (FR 515). Surprisingly, a clear trail leads the whole way to the falls despite the area's remote nature and lack of markings. You will need to pay attention at several unmarked junctions and pick out the correct path toward the creek.
