Moss Falls is the largest publicly accessible waterfall in Central Georgia's elevated Pine Mountain region. About 20 feet high, this waterfall lies in a steep-sided ravine along Double Branch, which flows down into a rugged gorge along the Flint River.

Moss Falls gets its name from the dense curtain of overhanging moss behind the waterfall, fed by a constant supply of moisture from the dripping water. I find this to be the waterfall's most unique element, and I've never seen such an elegant specimen of moss at any other waterfall in Georgia. The waterfall tumbles over a picturesque quartzite cliff stretching over a hundred feet long.

Moss Falls lies on the property of the Gerald L. Lawhorn Scouting Base, which has been open to the public as Camp Thunder VPA through a cooperative lease agreement with GA DNR. The shortest way to access Moss Falls is from the entrance along Thundering Springs Road. From the end of the gravel road, it is a 0.8-mile downhill hike to the falls along a series of marked trails.
