Georgia's Trusted Local Source for Waterfall Explorations Since 2018

North Fork Moccasin Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Rabun County
Clayton, GA

GPS Location:

34.86271, -83.61892

Waterfall Height:

20 feet

Just under one mile upstream from the beautiful Upper Moccasin Falls, Moccasin Creek splits into a South Fork and North Fork Moccasin Creek. Another 0.1 mile above this confluence lies a picturesque 20-foot waterfall known as North Fork Moccasin Falls. It features a nice pool and is surrounded by a rhododendron thicket. Reaching this waterfall requires a long, tough bushwhack, as the established path ends just beyond Upper Moccasin Falls. An old railbed continues to loosely follow the creek but is highly overgrown.

Additionally, a small sliding waterfall lies another 0.3 mile upstream beyond North Fork Moccasin Falls (see photo below). It probably doesn't qualify as a true waterfall and requires even more tough bushwhacking to se.
