Located just north of Neels Gap in a steep ravine below US Highway 19/129, Nottely Falls is a spectacular 120-foot waterfall along Shanty Branch. In wet periods when the leaves are down, Nottely Falls can be briefly glimpsed through the trees while driving the road. An official trail once led to an observation deck above the falls, but it has been long decommissioned and few traces of the trail remain today. Nottely Falls lies close to the Byron Herbert Reece trailhead for Blood Mountain, but reaching the bottom of the falls requires an extremely steep and treacherous off-trail climb down the mountainside.
