GPS Location:

Waterfall Height:

70 feet

Tumbling in free-falling fashion over a majestic cliff, Owen Branch Falls is an imposing 70-foot waterfall located on Owen Branch along the Buzzard Rock escarpment. Owen Branch is a small tributary of Little Creek, which feeds into the Big Creek valley. This waterfall is among the tallest free-falling waterfalls in northeast Georgia and is a rarity for the area, though it's best appreciated in wet weather.

Reaching Owen Branch Falls requires a very difficult bushwhack from Walking Stick Road. The area around the falls is engulfed in some of the densest rhododendron thickets I've seen in the region, as well as steep, rugged terrain. This makes for very slow bushwhacking. A small, overgrown powerline clearing lies west of Owen Branch Falls and can provide access to a slightly easier access bushwhack route rather than attempting to follow the stream right to the falls.
