Persimmon Creek Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Rabun County
Clayton, GA

GPS Location:

34.96583, -83.49248

Waterfall Height:

50 feet

An impressive 50-foot waterfall, Persimmon Creek Falls is the largest and uppermost of three waterfalls along Persimmon Creek. It lies well upstream from Kilby Mill Falls in the creek's upper reaches. Although this is a far more scenic waterfall than Kilby Mill Falls, it unfortunately lies within the 2016 Rock Mountain Fire damage zone and is surrounded by some carnage. The waterfall itself has been free of debris, and it includes an especially picturesque free-falling section. Persimmon Creek Falls is accessed by a short yet extremely steep bushwhack down from Patterson Gap Road (FR 32). There is no trail leading into this valley.
