At Roswell Mill Falls, Vickery Creek (also known as Big Creek) tumbles over an old stone spillway by the site of the historic Roswell Mill. Although this feature is of man-made origin, it is an impressive sight and largely treated as a waterfall by the general public. Roswell Mill Falls is one of the most popular natural landmarks in northern Metro Atlanta.
The quickest way to reach the falls is from the Old Mill Park trailhead just east of downtown Roswell. Follow the paved walkway down to the covered bridge over Vickery Creek. Here, easy trails follow both sides of the creek upstream for 0.2 mile to viewpoints and observation decks overlooking the spillway falls. My preferred viewpoint is along the south side of the creek.
A multi-mile day hike is possible via the extensive Chattahoochee River NRA trail system on the east side of Vickery Creek, leading to alternate trailheads off Oxbo Road and Riverside Road.
