Rough Bluff Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Rabun County
Clayton, GA

GPS Location:

34.95210, -83.49780

Waterfall Height:

40 feet

Rough Bluff Falls lies on a steep unnamed stream flowing into Persimmon Creek from the north near the entrance to Camp Ramah Darom, near the trailhead for Kilby Mill Falls. Topographic maps would suggest a significant waterfall at this location, and I was expecting to see something similar to Ramah Darom Falls. Unfortunately, most of the waterfall is obscured by deadfall and rhododendron, and only small sections are possible to see. The main drop is about 40 feet high.

To learn about more waterfalls in the Clayton area, see chapter 9 in Mark Ozboyd's "Waterfalls of Georgia" guidebook.
