Named for the Rymer Family who lived here in the early 1900s, Rymer Falls is a picturesque 20-foot waterfall located in the North Prong Sumac Creek valley south of Old Highway 2. This waterfall is most commonly accessed via a faint unofficial trail from the end of FR 148 (Rymer Road), where a gated public right-of-way leads into the National Forest adjacent to an abandoned house.
The road can be driven for another 0.1 mile to an overgrown turnaround. Here, start hiking straight along an old logging road, crossing jeep mounds. The old roadbed leads to Rymer Falls in about one mile, with three crossings of North Prong Sumac Creek along the way. After the third crossing, the roadbed becomes a low-level bushwhack due to rhododendron overgrowth.
