Sandstone Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Rabun County
Lakemont, GA

GPS Location:

34.76230, -83.48360

Waterfall Height:

30 feet

Sandstone Falls is a long series of small cascading waterfalls located in a dense rhododenron thicket upstream from Arrowhead Falls, near Lake Rabun Campground. The total height of this waterfall is pretty large, with the main drop being about 30 feet and several other stairstepping drops lying just below it. However, in reality, most of Sandstone Falls is hard to view amid the incredibly dense rhododendron. It is also accessed by a very thick bushwhack from Arrowhead Falls, so this one is only for the hardcore waterfallers. Interestingly, an old 4-foot concrete block dam stands at the foot of the main drop of Sandstone Falls.
