Located on Sawmill Creek near Lake Burton, Sawmill Creek Falls is a beautiful 25-foot waterfall with an excellent pool. Technically, the waterfall lies on public land inside the Chattahoochee National Forest. However, the waterfall is very close to the property of Camp Covecrest, a Catholic summer camp and retreat center. The camp has built a trail to Sawmill Creek Falls, but their trail isn't open to the public. Visitors sometimes have had success in obtaining special permission to visit the falls when camp isn't in session. Otherwise, it may also be possible to access Sawmill Creek Falls across public lands via a long and challenging bushwhack. I would attempt it from the vicinity of Stamp Ridge Road (FR 25).
To learn about more waterfalls in the Tiger area, see chapter 9 in Mark Ozboyd's "Waterfalls of Georgia" guidebook.
