Serenity Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Stephens County
Toccoa, GA

GPS Location:

34.57822, -83.40192

Waterfall Height:

40 feet

Located in the upper reaches of the North Fork Broad River near Toccoa, Serenity Falls is an especially picturesque stairstepping waterfall. About 40 feet high, this waterfall gradually drops in multiple showy tiers that make its size appear deceptively smaller. Despite this mirage, Serenity Falls presents ample photo opportunities. The largest tier is about 25 feet, with additional stairstep cascades found above and below it.

The North Fork of the Broad River gets overshadowed by the Middle Fork of the Broad River, which features more waterfalls and spends more of its life flowing through public lands. Serenity Falls is the only significant waterfall on the North Fork Broad River. The quickest way to reach it is from Highway 123, where an unofficial trailhead lies at a gate for FR 301. A short distance down this gated forest road, an unmarked path forks left and climbs a small ridge before dropping down a series of steep gullies to the river. This lightly-traveled path reaches the river near the top of Serenity Falls, and a little bushwhacking is needed to reach the base.
