Shoal Creek Falls
Chattahoochee National Forest
Habersham County
Lakemont, GA
GPS Location:
34.72981, -83.50644
Waterfall Height:
65 feet
The headwaters of Shoal Creek near Stony Mountain are home to this 65-foot waterfall. Best seen in wet weather, Shoal Creek Falls is cluttered with debris but has a nice free-falling tier. The only way to reach it is via a long, challenging bushwhack from Low Gap Road. An old, overgrown forest road begins at a curve along Low Gap Road at the coordinates (34.728315, -83.516916). The forest road leads all the way to Shoal Creek at the top of Shoal Creek Falls, but it is overgrown enough that it may be hard to follow and easier to bushwhack cross-country along the slopes a bit lower. Either way, the off-trail trek to this falls is more than one mile.
