Tatum Gulf Creek forms a major gorge splitting the west side of Lookout Mountain, a couple miles south of the better-known Forester Gulf (home to Singing Sisters Falls). Just before the head of the gorge, a sizeable tributary drops off the escarpment to the south, a few hundred feet below Tatum Gulf Falls. This tributary forms a series of waterfalls that I reference as South Tatum Gulf Falls. The most unusual feature of this waterfall is a truly magnificent cliff wall towering more than 120 feet high on one side.
South Tatum Gulf Falls is located on the private land of the Lookout Highlands neighborhood, a high-end gated residential community. There is zero public access to this waterfall or any others on the property. Trails are open only for homeowners and their guests, and this is strictly enforced. No Trespassing signs are present throughout many sections of the trail system and property boundaries.
