Staircase Falls
Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area
Stephens County
Toccoa, GA
GPS Location:
34.51692, -83.39403
Waterfall Height:
25 feet
A 25-foot waterfall best seen in wet weather, Staircase Falls is named for the series of picturesque stairstepping ledges that it tumbles over. This waterfall is located near and can be heard from the Leatherwood Creek Trail, which is part of the Frady Branch multi-use trail system near Toccoa. However, there is no side path leading directly to the falls, so reaching it requires a short bushwhack down the bank. A couple of other minor drops are found farther down this small stream but aren't really worth much effort. After leaving Staircase Falls, this stream eventually joins Mill Creek.
