Tatum Gulf Falls
Private Property
Dade County
Trenton, GA
GPS Location:
NO PUBLIC ACCESS
Waterfall Height:
50 feet
Tatum Gulf Creek forms a major gorge splitting the west side of Lookout Mountain, a couple miles south of the better-known Forester Gulf (home to Singing Sisters Falls). A 50-foot waterfall known as Tatum Gulf Falls lies at the head of the gorge, where Tatum Gulf Creek tumbles off the escarpment. This should not be confused with a different Tatum Gulf Falls in the northwest corner of Dade County.
The waterfall forms a series of sliding-type drops, and although impressive, it is not as beautiful as Singing Sisters Falls or Tallulah Falls. A private residential neighborhood trail ends at cliffs by the top of Tatum Gulf Falls, offering a top-down view. There is no trail to the bottom, and the surrounding area was heavily damaged in a 2016 wildfire.
Tatum Gulf Falls is located on the private land of the Lookout Highlands neighborhood, a high-end gated residential community. There is zero public access to this waterfall or any others on the property. The HOA has constructed a makeshift trail leading along the plateau to the falls. However, the trails are open only for homeowners and their guests, and this is strictly enforced. No Trespassing signs are present throughout many sections of the trail system and property boundaries.
