Tornado Falls

Tray Mountain Wilderness

White County
Helen, GA

GPS Location:

34.78530, -83.68025

Waterfall Height:

80 feet

Tornado Falls is the fourth and uppermost waterfall along Chinquapin Branch, a steeply-dropping stream on the south side of Tray Mountain. It drops about 80 feet in multiple sliding tiers, which are largely cluttered by treefall from 2011 tornado damage. Tornado Falls lies in the headwaters of Chinquapin Branch, above where gated Chimney Mountain Road crosses the stream a second time. Access to the falls entails a difficult bushwhack.
