Bear Gap Branch is the unofficial name for a tributary of the Coleman River draining the eastern slopes of Dicks Knob, the third highest peak in Georgia. Upper Bear Gap Branch Fall is the second significant waterfall on this stream, a wet-weather free-fall of about 50 feet. It is similar to the lower falls and located about 350 feet upstream. The upper falls has a bigger rock shelter, but the waterfall's base is more cluttered with debris. Additionally, a smaller and more cluttered sliding waterfall lies 200 feet above the brink of Upper Bear Gap Branch Falls.
This waterfall can be accessed from a seldom-traveled unofficial trail paralleling the upper Coleman River from the end of Coleman River Road (FR 54). However, reaching the falls does entail a 0.25-mile open-woods bushwhack up the tributary, as well as a steep scramble around the lower falls.
