Upper Clear Creek Falls is the second waterfall on Clear Creek, a major tributary of Overflow Creek in the Three Forks area. It lies just above the Henson Branch confluence, a quarter-mile upstream from the unique Big Thunder Falls and only 0.1 mile from the North Carolina border. This beautiful 25-foot waterfall is surrounded by jagged cliffs and picturesque water-sculpted rock formations.
Like Big Thunder Falls, Upper Clear Creek Falls lies in a remote, off-trail area requiring extensive bushwhacking and creekwalking to reach. The easiest route is from the east side, but it comes from private property. To stay on public land, people can either creekwalk upstream from Big Thunder Falls to Upper Clear Creek Falls, or bushwhack through very thick rhododendron from gated FR 4629 on the North Carolina side.
