Upper Denton Creek Falls is a very picturesque 50-foot waterfall located above Denton Creek Falls. Denton Creek is a major tributary of the Tallulah River near the remote mountain community of Tate City. Upper Denton Creek Falls sees much less visitation than its downstream counterpart, but it's an excellent waterfall that doesn't take too much effort to reach. It is a 1-mile hike from Tallulah River Road with steady, moderate elevation gain. Along the trail to Denton Creek Falls, a narrower trail splits off to the left, climbs above the lower falls, and follows an old logging road upstream to the upper falls. Even though the trail is unmarked with scattered downed trees, there is a well-defined path to follow the whole way.
