Upper Holcomb Creek Falls

Chattahoochee National Forest

Rabun County
Sky Valley, GA

GPS Location:

34.98210, -83.27148

Waterfall Height:

20 feet

Upper Holcomb Creek Falls is a beautiful 20-foot waterfall found just off the Holcomb Creek Trail. It tends to be overshadowed by the much taller Holcomb Creek Falls downstream, as well as Ammons Creek Falls nearby. However, this smaller sliding waterfall is well worth visiting as well, not least because of its fabulous swimming hole. The waterfall is also sometimes called "X Falls" due to the crisscrossing X-shaped flow pattern seen in the middle of the rock face.

Upper Holcomb Creek Falls can be reached with an easy 0.2-mile hike from the Holcomb Creek Trail's upper trailhead along Hale Ridge Road (FR 7). A short side path leads to the base of the falls. It also lies about 0.5 mile from Holcomb Creek Falls and 0.8 mile from the lower trailhead.
